بہت قرینے کی زندگی تھی عجب قیامت میں آ بسا ہوں
سکون کی صبح چاہتا تھا سو شامِ وحشت میں آ بسا ہوں
میں اپنی انگُشت کاٹتا تھا کہ بیچ میں نیند آ نہ جائے
اگرچہ سب خواب کا سفر تھا مگر حقیقت میں آ بسا ہوں
وصالِ فردا کی جستجو میں نشاطِ امروز گھٹ رہا ہے
یہ کس طلب میں گِھرا ہوا ہوں یہ کس اذیت میں آ بسا ہوں
یہاں تو بے فرصتی کے ہاتھوں وہ پائمالی ہوئی ہے میری
کہ جس سے ملنے کی آرزو تھی اسی کی فرقت میں آ بسا ہوں
کہاں کی دنیا کہاں کی سانسیں کہ سب فریبِ حواس نکلا
جزا کی مدت سمجھ رہا تھا سزا کی مہلت میں آ بسا ہوں
سوال کرنے کے حوصلے سے جواب دینے کے فیصلے تک
جو وقفۂ صبر آ گیا تھا اسی کی لذت میں آ بسا ہوں
یہ ان سے کہنا جو میری چپ سے ہزار باتیں بنا رہے تھے
میں اپنے شعلے کو پا چکا ہوں میں اپنی شدت میں آ بسا ہوں

Tell this to those who were making a thousand things out of my silence
I've found my flame I'm in my intensity
