رشتۂ دل بھی کسی دن خواب سا ہو جائے گا
تیرے میرے درمیاں وہ فاصلہ ہو جائے گا
پیلی پیلی رُت جدائی کی اچانک آئے گی
قربتوں کا سبز موسم بے وفا ہو جائے گا
آئینے رنگوں کے خالی چھوڑ جائے گی دھنک
حیرتیں رہ جائیں گی منظر جدا ہو جائے گا
کیا نشانہ ٹھیک بیٹھے گا ہوائے تیز میں
جو کماں سے تیر نکلے گا خطا ہو جائے گا
تیری پیشانی پہ بھی پڑ جائیں گے تلخی سے بَل
میری سچی بات پر تُو بھی خفا ہو جائے گا
گھر سے نکلوں گا ہتھیلی پر لئے اجلا چراغ
علم ہے کالی ہوا کا سامنا ہو جائے گا
آنے والے جانے والوں کا بدل ہوتے نہیں
پُر نہیں ہو گا جو پیدا اک خلا ہو جائے گا
ٹوٹ جائے گا درِ دیوارِ زنداں کا غرور
ایک آواز آئے گی قیدی رہا ہو جائے گا
میں نہیں تو اور ہی بیٹھے گا کوئی چھاؤں میں
آج کا چھوٹا سا بوٹا کل بڑا ہو جائے گا
چاند کو ڈھونڈیں گی آنکھیں پھر نہ سورج کو رشید
چاند سورج سے تعلق دوسرا ہو جائے گا

It won't be filled that a space will be created
The pride of the prison wall will be broken
There will be a voice, the prisoner will be released
If not me then someone else will sit in the shade
Today's little butta will be big tomorrow
Eyes will look for the moon, then not the sun, Rashid
