کیسے معنی کی قبا رشتوں کو پہنائی گئی؟
ایک ہی لمحے میں برسوں کی شناسائی گئی
ہر در و دیوار پر بچپن جوانی نقش تھے
کب مرے گھر سے مرے ماضی کی دارائی گئی؟
اِس قدر اونچی ہوئی دیوارِ نفرت ہر طرف
آج ہر انسان سے انساں کی پذیرائی گئی
ہر نیا دن دھوپ کی کرنوں سے تپ کر آئے ہے
جسم سے ٹھنڈک گئی، آنکھوں سے بینائی گئی
اب کہاں وہ مستیاں، سرگوشیاں، گُل ریزیاں؟
دامنِ صحرا سے جو آئی تھی پُروائی ، گئی
وقت کی سوغات ہے، نہ ہم ہیں ہم، نہ تم ہو تم
ذہن سے سوچیں گئیں، ہونٹوں سے سچّائی گئی
آج پھر ہے حکمرانی تِیرگی کی ہر طرف
روشنی اک پل کو صابرؔ آئی ، اور آئی گئی

Today every human being was thanked.
Every new day has come with sunshine.
The body was cooled, the eyes were seen
Now where are those ecstasy, whisper, flowers?
The proof that came from the desert, went away.
It is the gift of time, neither we are, nor you are
Thoughts from the mind, truth from the lips
Today again the rule is everywhere.
The light came for a moment, and it came.
