اردو کے مشہور انشا پرداز‘ ڈرامہ نگار‘ افسانہ نگار اور شاعر حکیم احمد شجاع کی تاریخ پیدائش 4 نومبر1896 ء ہے۔
حکیم احمد شجاع نے لاہور سے میٹرک کرنے کے بعد ایم اے او کالج علی گڑھ سے ایف اے اور پھر میرٹھ کالج سے بی اے کیا اور شعبہ تعلیم سے وابستہ ہوگئے۔ 1920ء میں پنجاب اسمبلی سے منسلک ہوئے اور پھر اس اسمبلی کے سیکریٹری کے عہدے تک پہنچے۔ اس کے ساتھ ہی وہ 1948ء سے 1969ء تک مجلس زبان دفتری کے سیکریٹری بھی رہے اور ان کی رہنمائی میں ہزاروں انگریزی اصطلاحات کا اردو ترجمہ ہوا۔
حکیم احمد شجاع اردو کے صف اول کے ڈرامہ نگاروں میں شمار ہوتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے بہت سے افسانے بھی لکھے‘ ناول بھی تحریر کیا اور کئی فلموں کی کہانیاں بھی لکھیں۔ انہوں نے ایک ادبی رسالہ ہزار داستان اور بچوں کا رسالہ نونہال بھی نکالا۔ اپنی خود نوشت خوں بہا کے نام سے تحریر کی اور لاہور کے اندرون بھاٹی دروازے کی ادبی تاریخ لاہور کا چیلسی کے نام سے رقم کی۔ وہ قرآن پاک کی تفسیر بھی تحریر کررہے تھی جس کا نام افصح البیان رکھا گیا تھا مگر بدقسمتی سے یہ کام مکمل نہ ہوسکا اور صرف پانچ پاروں ہی کی تفسیر لکھی جاسکی۔
حکیم احمد شجاع نے 4 جنوری 1969ء کو لاہور میں وفات پائی اور میانی صاحب کے قبرستان میں آسودہ خاک ہوئے۔

Hakeem Ahmad Shuja after matriculating from Lahore, made FA from MAO College Aligarh, then BA from Meerut College and joined the Education Department. In 1920, he joined the Punjab Assembly and then the Secretary of the Assembly. Reached the post of K. Along with him, he was the Secretary of Majlis Language Official from 1948 to 1969 and under his guidance thousands of English terms were translated in Urdu.
Hakeem Ahmad Shuja is one of the first Urdu drama writers. He also wrote many myths and wrote stories of several films. He also released a literary magazine Hazar Dastan and children's magazine Nonahal. Wrote his own book in the name of Khun Baha and made the literary history of Lahore's Inner Bhati Gate with Chelsea. He was also writing the interpretation of the Holy Quran which was named Afsah Al-Bayan but unfortunately this work It could not be completed and only the interpretation of five paras could be written.
Hakeem Ahmad Shuja died on 4 January 1969 in Lahore and died in the graveyard of Miani Sahib.
