وقت سے کس کا کلیجہ ہے کہ ٹکرا جائے؟
وقت انسان کے ہر غم کی دوا ہوتا ہے
زندگی نام ہے احساس کی تبدیلی کا
صرف مر مر کے جیے جانے سے کیا ہوتا ہے؟
تُو غمِ دل کی روایات کا پابند نہ ہو
غمِ دل شعر و حکایت کے سوا کچھ بھی نہیں
یہ تری کم نظری ہے کہ تری آنکھوں میں
ایک مجبور شکایت کے سوا کچھ بھی نہیں
ارتقا کی نئی منزل پہ مصوّر کی نگاہ
اپنی تصویر کے انداز بدل جاتی ہے
زاویے پاؤں کے ہر رقص میں ہوتے ہیں جدا
ہر نئے ساز پہ آواز بدل جاتی ہے
یہ مرا جرم نہیں ہے کہ جرس کے ہمراہ
میں نئی راہ گزاروں پہ نکل آیا ہوں
میرے معیار نے اک اور صنم ڈھال لیا
میں ذرا دُور کے دہاروں پہ نکل آیا ہوں
پھر بھی تقدیر کو اِس کھیل میں کیا لطف ملا؟

آج جس سے مرے آنگن میں دیے جلتے ہیں
تیری ہم شکل بھی ہے اور تری ہم نام بھی ہے

My standard has taken another lover
I have come out to the door of a distance.
