A Day In the Life of a Summer YCAP Instructor:

This part-time Summer 2025/Seasonal YCAP Instructor is responsible for tutoring and mentoring at-risk youth. This role is part of the YMCA's Youth Community Action Project (Y-CAP) at our Brainerd location, which provides services and a structured program for children between the ages of 10 and 14, who have been referred through the juvenile court system or the school system. Each child and their family have a personalized treatment plan that addresses their spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs. As a YCAP Instructor, you will play a crucial role in positively impacting their lives.

Summer shifts for this position vary and fall between the hours of 7am-4pm, Monday-Thursday.

Job Responsibilities:

• Be a positive role model
• Assist with schoolwork
• Provide behavioral guidance
• Implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines
• Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians
• Maintain required program records, such as sign-in/sign-out rosters
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training
• Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school degree or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
