smartdept. is searching for a UX Writer for a financial client located in the greater Chicago area. The ideal candidate will come with 5+ years of experience. This is a full-time , remote , 6-month contract opportunity with the potential to extend or convert. Compensation for this position is expected to be $50-$62/hour depending on experience level and fit.

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with designers to concept, develop and refine digital experiences (website and app) that deliver on design brief and business objectives.
• Writes copy for digital experiences.
• Partners with designers, business and legal to incorporate changes into designs.
• Monitors the competitive landscape to understand customer expectations and to spot opportunities for innovation.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in UX writing, technical writing, or a similar role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing your writing skills and examples of user-centered content.
• Excellent communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Familiarity with UX design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in using design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
