Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Director of Tax for one our top customers located in Emeryville, California. This position is hybrid and will be in the office 3 days a week. The position will be responsible for leading and developing the internal tax function and the tax strategies that support the business and its growth aspirations. The role is an integral part of the accounting and finance department and will be a part of a small collaborative tax team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and strong with income tax, direct tax, indirect tax, sales and use tax, tax compliance, and ASC 740.

Responsibilities:

• Management of the monthly/quarterly/annual tax accounting and reporting

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax returns as well as monitoring tax authority audits and ensuring resources are available to support any tax audit activity

• Liaison with operating management and accounting staff on tax issues

• Review, assess, and manage external advisor relationships

• Assist in quarterly and year-end tax provision calculation, including effective tax rate, journal entries, foot note disclosures and preparation of workpapers.

• Assist with corporate income tax compliance, quarterly estimate extensions including preparing supporting workpapers and making tax payments.

• Collaborate with the Indirect Tax Manager on indirect tax compliance, payments, and projects.

• Hands on approach and success working in a team based environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance is required. Master’s Degree in Tax preferred

• CPA is required

• Industry experience within a publicly traded organization is required

• Highly proficient in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and income tax

• Collaborative, self-starter, a problem-solver, and analytical

• Excellent communications, motivated, proactive, who can partner with all levels of the company

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of Direct Tax experience in public accounting or an internal corporate income tax department at a public company (Director of Tax, Directo, Tax, Senior Manager, Tax)

Employment Type: Temporary (3/4 months)

Compensation: $100 to $120 per hour (DOE)
