This course is an introduction to comparative politics. The instructorwill introduce a comparative framework and related theoretical constructs toassist students in analyzing similarities and differences among governmentsacross the world. A twin theme is to teach students to appreciate the contrastsin human rights between liberal democracies, authoritarian dictatorships, andhybrid/transitional regimes. Our expectation is that the class will be taughtin a highly interactive manner, with graded assignments required on at least abi-weekly basis, and 2-3 written exams. A detailed syllabus with assignmentsand grading scheme is required for all applicants, and should be included with othermaterials submitted.
A minimum of a Master's degree is required.
