Pilates Reformer Instructor Department: Center Staff
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: Charles River YMCA
Compensation: $40.00 - $55.00 / hour
Description Position Summary: Qualified Individuals need to possess a certification thru a recognized provider. A Reformer Instructor should have great communication skills, a desire to help others, love teaching and deliver feedback in a calm and approachable manner. Individuals should feel comfortable leading individual or small group sessions and possess in-depth knowledge of reformer techniques and mechanics.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW: - Understand the relationship of the public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.
- Ability to interpret, carry out and implement into classes/programs, the mission and goals of the YMCA.
- Work as an integral member of a staff team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.
- Degree in exercise Science or Physical Education preferred
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (will supply if necessary)
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience teaching Reformer.
Key Responsibilities Essential Functions: 1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational reformer sessions.
2. Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.
3. Maintains working knowledge of reformer standards of practice.
4. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
5. Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
6. Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
7. Keeps accurate records of sessions utilizing YMCA software.
8. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
