Overview:
The Florida Gaming Control Commission (“Commission”) is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. The FGCC is charged with investigating and enforcing Florida pari-mutuel and gaming statutes and rules. Our mission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. 

 

The Commission regulates legal gambling in the state, including licensed pari-mutuel wagering facilities, cardrooms, and slot machine gaming facilities. In addition, through the Division of Gaming Enforcement, the Commission investigates criminal gambling activity and enforces the state’s criminal gambling laws.

 

The Division of Gaming Enforcement is a criminal justice agency comprised of sworn law enforcement officers and criminal intelligence analysts handling complex cases involving RICO, money laundering, and illegal gambling throughout the state.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

The Office of General Counsel supports the Commission by providing legal counsel on all matters under the Commission’s jurisdiction and prosecuting noncompliance with Florida’s gambling laws.

 

As a Law Clerk in the litigation unit, you will play a crucial role in all aspects of administrative and civil litigation, including conducting legal research and drafting charging documents. Law Clerks will have the opportunity to assist with litigation at the Division of Administrative Hearings and at informal hearings pursuant to 120.57(2), Florida Statutes.

 

This position will operate under the supervision of a Chief Attorney.
