Job Description

LHH is seeking a self-motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with excellent training and coaching skills. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet technical specifications, performance requirements, and safety standards. This is a hybrid working environment with 3-5 days in office depending on the company needs.

The anticipated salary for this role is between $75,000-$105,000 a year plus bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Create project Bills of Material and drawings for submission and release.
• Assist in the design of Welding Systems and Support Equipment to meet both internal and external customer needs.
• Develop robust designs that comply with project specifications and requirements.
• Work closely with other divisions and external customers to ensure the equipment meets project needs.
• Assist in R&D projects related to end products.
• Perform design calculations to verify design integrity or to meet specific project specifications.
• Assist in enhancing and upgrading both existing and future systems.
• Apply Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) to optimize designs.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair assistance for internally developed welding systems and related equipment.
• Document equipment and process-related changes.
• Utilize Quality Control programs.
• Adhere to the safety program to maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow the company’s MOD Operating Policies and Guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Adhere to wear necessary PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
• Capability to crouch, bend, stoop, and demonstrate hand/finger dexterity as well as climb in and out of mobile operating equipment as needed.

Education and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural, mechanical, and hydraulic areas of machine design.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with 3D drafting (SolidWorks is preferred).
• Experience managing projects, including coordinating timelines, cost estimates, and documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot various types of heavy industrial equipment, including remote troubleshooting via phone or other methods.
• Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally by ground, air, and rail.
• Proficient in reading electrical, hydraulic schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• FEA experience is a plus.
• PE License in Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.
• Excellent skills in training and coaching.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effectively collaborating with customers, employees, management, and vendors.
