JOB SUMMARY:


Performs duties involved in cleaning and sanitizing furnishings and any other areas assigned. Performs duties involved in providing clean linen to all linen using departments of the hospital district. Follows aseptic policies and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials, and other duties as may be required or assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Personal Job Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
• Licensure, Registry or Certification: None required.

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Entry level position.

TECHNICAL TRAINING:

• Working knowledge and competent capabilities in computer technology.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of this position require:

• Extended periods of walking and standing
• Lifting up to 50 pounds and transporting up to 100 pounds on carts.
• Pushing and pulling of carts, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching in storing supplies and cleaning activities.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions or directions.

TASKS

• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Muenster Hospital District.
• Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
• Follows safety guidelines and all policies and procedures of MHD.
• Cleans bathroom and basin.
• Dusts furniture and dusts and wet mops floors.
• Stocks bathroom with expendable supplies.
• Cleans day room, nursing station, utility rooms, and exam rooms.
• Cleans patient room after patient is discharged or transferred as stipulated in established procedures.
• Cleans furniture, fixtures, and hospital surfaces.
• Cleans floor by dry or wet mopping, sweeping, and disinfecting when necessary.
• Cleans carpeting by vacuuming when necessary.
• Follows established cleaning schedule.
• Cleans walls, windows, doors, and ceilings.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles and removes trash to a designated collection area.
• Goes to using departments to collect soiled linen and return it to the laundry area.
• Inspects soiled linen for need of repairs and disposes of non-repairable linen.
• Operates washers, dryers, mangles, and presses in compliance with directions for processing linen.
• Sorts and records the weight of soiled linen prior to processing.
• Distributes laundered articles and linens.
• Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.
• Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies.
• Enter and maintain personal time in time clock system.
