Harmonic is proud to partner with one of the trailblazer’s of Boston’s battery tech scene. Off the back of a licensing agreement with the US Military + the pivot toward production of their second patented product, we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee manufacturing.

This role offers the unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, shape the company’s operational standards, and lead key initiatives in a high-impact, fast-paced environment.

The Role

As the Health & Safety Officer, you will work closely with the COO and the leadership team to develop and implement safety initiatives, support the build-out of new labs, and the installation/commissioning of equipment purchases.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Safety Department and support all program activities
• Review existing policies and procedures for compliance with industry standards/best practices including shipping protocols
• Create and enforce safety policies and preventative measures for all lab areas both externally (vendors) and internally
• Oversee proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste
• Support the build-out of new labs and upgrading current lab infostructures
• Perform regular safety and 5S audits of lab areas and office

What You Need:

• Technical and practical proficiency of EHS issues across research and development, manufacturing, construction and field operations
• Experience growing an EHS organization in a related field (battery technology, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing)
• Experience leading design reviews on technical deliverables

What We’d Like to See:

• Experience in both startups and an affinity for improving processes
• Experience with battery-related safety procedures is a plus (Lithium)
• design experience, specifically for safe lab infrastructure
• Experience handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste

Hourly Rate: $80-$110/hr.

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
