POSITION: EVENTS & EXPERIENCES DESIGNER

Department: Innovation (I-Lab) Division: Conferences, Events, & Experiences Direct Supervisor: Director of Conferences, Events, & Experiences Location: Rockville, Maryland Education: Bachelor’s in Hospitality, Marketing, Business, Interior Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field; A certification in event design is a plus SUMMARY: Our firm believes in cultivating relationships that touch lives and create a better world. We’re searching for an Events & Experiences Designer to provide direct support to the Conferences, Events, & Experiences (CEE) Team. The ideal candidate is passionate, creative, detail-oriented, and dedicated to conceptualizing, planning, and executing a variety of events. The Events & Experiences Designer will work closely with our CEE Team to ensure each event is executed flawlessly and exceeds expectations. EVENTS & EXPERIENCES DESIGNER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with our CEE Team to understand the client’s vision, goals, and budget. Develop innovative and visually compelling event concepts and themes. Create detailed mood boards, sketches, and digital renderings to present design ideas to clients and stakeholders. Conduct audience research to understand preferences and tailor event experiences accordingly. Select and coordinate the design elements, including color schemes, lighting, décor, fabrics, textiles, floral arrangements, furniture, and signage. Oversee the production and installation of all design elements, ensuring they meet the desired aesthetic and functional requirements. Work closely with vendors to source and secure materials. Coordinate with the CEE Team to ensure seamless integration of design and logistical elements. Supervise the setup and teardown of event decor, ensuring all elements are installed and dismantled efficiently and professionally. Serve as the primary contact for all design-related materials. Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to ensure quality and budget adherence. Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction throughout the design process. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging design techniques, and new materials. Introduce fresh and creative ideas to enhance the client’s experience. Incorporate sustainable practices into event planning and execution to minimize environmental impact. Ensure events are accessible and inclusive, reflecting the diversity of the audience and community. Comply with legal, insurance, health, and safety regulations at all times. KEY COMPETENCIES: Proven understanding and experience in event design or a similar role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Strong organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail. Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including both large-scale and intimate events. Highly motivated self-starter. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, Canva, Prismm, SketchUp, Blender, or other relevant tools. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong project management abilities with a keen eye for detail. Polished and professional demeanor.
