Job Description

The Disney Lorcana TCG team is growing! After an enormously successful launch year, we’re looking for an experienced Director of the Play & Events team. In this role, you’ll lead the Play & Events team to deliver outstanding player experiences for the Disney Lorcana TCG, reaching from store-level play through the highest levels of premier play. You’ll lead the strategy and execution of play & event programs for every type of player, from acquisition & onboarding of new fans to the global competitive circuit, while ensuring the highest levels of fun and competition. The Play & Events team is highly collaborative and works to deliver outstanding play experiences by closely partnering with each other, the expanded Disney Lorcana teams in Seattle and across the world, and with core hobby game stores and professional event organizers. You’ll nurture this passionate team to grow in their roles and in their careers.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic and executional leadership of all Disney Lorcana TCG play & event programs for every type of player, including the premier play ecosystem (Challenges, Worlds), store play programs (launch events, weekly play programs, store championships), acquisition activations (demos, sampling, conventions), and other play & events programs
  • Nurture a team of play & events professionals to grow in their roles and their careers
  • Manage the play & events budget, including planning, tracking, and optimization of spends
  • Clearly and timely communicate play & event program strategy and executional details to internal stakeholders, regional teams, event partners, and players
  • Own and deliver internal presentations and reports analyzing play & event program results and business impact
  • Provide on-site and on-call event support for operational execution, including on the weekends events are scheduled
  • Educate, train, and coach your team and partners on general play & events best practices and Disney Lorcana specific program strategies and implementation
  • Collaborate across the central Disney Lorcana marketing, product, and brand teams and the Ravensburger regional teams on go-to-market plans to ensure a seamless and integrated fan experience
  • Research and synthesize trends in the play & events space and be the expert on our competitors
  • Be a steward of Ravensburger’s mission and model our values
  • Travel is expected from 10-25%, including international travel

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing play & event programs for global gaming brands including events with thousands of players, preferably in the TCG space
  • Experience managing budgets of $5-10M+
  • 5+ years of people management experience of direct teams of 5-10
  • Proven success in leading cross-functional teams through influence and mutual trust
  • Able to craft and deliver presentations on program strategy, implementation details and results, as well as on industry trends and best practices
  • Experience working internationally with colleagues, partners, and players
  • Passion for TCGs and an affinity for Disney
  • Existing Disney Lorcana TCG knowledge or an eagerness to deeply learn
  • Strong collaborator who is comfortable having vigorous and positive debate, works to find win-win solutions, and ultimately pulls teams together with an inspiring vision and timely and clear communication
  • Test-and-learn innovator who combines best practices, data, insights, and intuition
  • Naturally curious, seeks to learn from others, and listens to understand

Diversity + Inclusion Statement

We believe that in diversity lies strength; in challenge, growth; and in difference, the creativity of a fresh perspective. In line with our desire to build Ravensburger Global Games as a robust global home within the game industry, candidates from a variety of diverse backgrounds (be they racial, cultural, educational, socio-economic, gendered, or otherwise) are explicitly invited to apply.
