Summary

Engage and support clinical team by providing assistance completing level of care assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Introduce and explain the Level of Care Assessment (LOCA) process to clients.

· Collect demographic and historical information relevant to the LOCA.

· Explain and facilitate signatures for Releases of Information (ROI) and other admission paperwork.

· Facilitate admission process by communicating with Licensed Counselor when client is ready for clinical

portion of the LOCA.

· Gather information for and complete precertification for all managed care clients when applicable.

· These duties are in addition to traditional responsibilities of the MHA position (if applicable) when the

Assessment Screener is not participating in a scheduled LOCA.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensure, & Experience

· High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.

· Maintain client confidentiality providing a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.

· Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations.

· Knowledge of medical terminology, composition of medical records, and data entry.

· Knowledge of pre-certification process.

· Knowledge of Confidentiality laws.

· Demonstrates the use of: Fax, PC knowledge, Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word), shredder and

copier.

· Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information

· Ability to handle a crisis situation and react appropriately

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is

regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is

occasionally required to climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift

and/ or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision

abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,

and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet & indoors. This position will be scheduled

based on operational need & will be required to provide own transportation. Incumbent may be exposed to

traumatic situations (i.e. psychiatric).
