Position: Archives and Special Collections Graduate Internship

Department: Rebecca Crown Library

Reports to: Archivist and Special Collections Librarian

Position availability: September 2024- June 30, 2025

Hourly Rate: $15.00

Hours needed per week: 15

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Join the Rebecca Crown Library Archives and Special Collections Team where there are varied opportunities to gain hands-on archives and museum-related skills. At the end of the internship, you will have gained the following experience:

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Redesign, update and maintain the Archives' web presence
• Assist with processing archival collections
• Help manage and improve the storage and record-keeping for our physical and digital photograph collection
• Create and input the data for sections of our manuscript collections
• Catalog rare books and other unique materials
• Assist with archival programming and instruction sessions
• Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned

BASIC COMPETENCIES: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities)

• Required: Computer literate (PC & MAC)
• Required: Must be enrolled at least at part-time, graduate degree-seeking status at Dominican University
• Required: Must be eligible for US employment
• Preferred: Completed GSLIS 701, 703 and 704
• Preferred: Familiar with HTML / CSS / XML
• Preferred: Familiar with / interested in basic Archival practices
• Ideal: Awareness of EAD / DACS / MARC / DC
