ACADEMIC ADVISOR CATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS/8,12-month contract
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide academic advising forstudents using a holistic advising approach. Assist students in creatingacademic plans and guiding them through the transfer process.
START DATE: ASAP
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Startingsalary of $44,600 to $54,700 based on qualifications and experience. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with people at all levels, both internal and external to the institution. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree and/or community college experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: • Support students through the NIACC Holistic Advising method.
• Develop academic plans with students using NIACC Guided Pathways/Meta-Majors that are compatible with their career and life goals.
• Utilize appropriate assessments to clarify career paths for students.
• Match student needs with available resources and make appropriate referrals when needed.
• Build relationships with faculty and staff on campus to enhance student support.
• Establish positive relationships with advisors at transfer institutions by attending workshops and visit days.
• Continuously monitor Navigate alerts and promptly communicate with students when an alert is triggered.
• Collaborate with transfer institutions to help students determine the best classes to take at NIACC.
• Represent NIACC positively at promotional events and in the community.
• Work across Student Development, specifically collaboration, support, and cross training with the Admissions team and College and Career Transition Counselors, as needed for enrollment growth.
Academic advisors will be assigned a specific Meta-Major based on Guided Pathways to help guide and support students through their academic journey at NIACC.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
