Position Summary
The role of the Subject Expert Teacher (SET) is to ensure the day-to-day exceptional education of students by preparing and facilitating subject specific lesson plans. Subject Expert Teachers implement the established BASIS Curriculum while tailoring specific topics to integrate their knowledge and passion for the subject.
BIOLOGY 7 COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this course, students will explore the diversity of life. Students expand on their understanding of the characteristics of life as well as the fundamental unit of life, the cell, by investigating the structures and processes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. In addition, as students examine the process of natural selection and how populations change over time, they evaluate the evidence that supports evolution by natural selection. Students distinguish between the various taxa used in classifying organisms as they survey the various kingdoms including Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Protist, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. Finally, students examine the relationships organisms have with biotic and abiotic factors within their ecosystems. Throughout the year, with evolution as the unifying theme, students recognize the underlying concepts leading to the vast diversity of life that exists on Earth.

Position Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related subject from an accredited college or university. Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Public Safety (DPS) clearance.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Biology or related subject.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years teaching/education experience

Benefits and Salary: Starting Teacher Salary is $45,000 and is negotiable dependent on education and experience. BASIS Ed offers a comprehensive benefits package.
