[ad_1] Lahore is nothing without its heritage and walled city is definitely the oldest region of this ancient city. This area illustrates the true culture & heritage of this region. The irony here lies in the fact that our youth is not aware of this asset. If you get a chance to ask your educated youth from these elite schools about lahore they would hardly know the names of the 13 gates let alone where they exist. Few days back I was having a conversation with some grammarian bachas who were all proud of their foreign qualifications & world tours, at that moment I was tempted to ask if they had any idea about walled city but their response broke my heart as one of them said “ohh I know Aitchison is in walled city”.Though shocked I still didn’t blame the child because we as parents have failed to invest time in quality education, instead we are all busy with all the materialistic aspects of the so called modern education. This beautiful structure known as Raushnai Gate is probably the only gate that shines in its original glory, amidst the few other surviving gates. It is located between Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque. It provides the main entrance from fort to the famous food street. For centuries it was a tradition to lit up this gate at nights, hence the name ‘Gate of Lights evolved from there.
